THE PROBLEM

Here's something nobody tells you about business problems.

They're rarely what they look like on the surface.

Your lawyers see it as a legal problem.

Your accountants see it as a financial problem.

Your commercial advisors see it as a commercial problem.

And they're all partly right. But they're all missing the same thing.

The root cause.

Because most root causes aren't really about the business at all.

They're about people. Your people. Your partners. Your team.

And often — if you're honest with yourself — they're about you.

Whether it's a business partnership going wrong. A team that won't perform. A deal that keeps falling through. A decision you keep making and regretting. Or a creeping sense that despite everything you've built, something fundamental is off.

If you've been treating the symptoms without addressing the cause, the problem will keep coming back. In different forms. With different names. But the same underlying issue driving all of it.

WHY TRADITIONAL ADVISORS CAN'T FIX IT

This isn't a criticism of your other advisors.

Your lawyer will draft you a watertight contract. Your accountant will restructure your finances. Your consultant will produce a thorough strategy. They're excellent at what they do.

But what they do is confined to their lane.

Your lawyer doesn't ask: "Why do you keep ending up in disputes?" Your accountant doesn't ask: "Why do you keep making this financial decision?" Your consultant doesn't ask: "What is it about your leadership that's creating this dynamic in your team?"

That's not what they're trained to do. And that's not what you're paying them for.

Nobody is looking at your business, your decisions, and your psychology as one connected picture, or looking at the real cause of the problems.

That gap — between the symptom-level advice you've been getting and the root-cause work nobody has done — is exactly where I work.

MEET PAUL

I'm Paul Cope.

And I'm probably unlike anyone you've hired before.

I worked as a corporate lawyer at some of the largest and most prestigious law firms in the world. I then built my own boutique law firm from scratch at 29 years old before selling it.

At the same time, I was building a separate online business — a tech company — that grew to 20,000 users in a few months, raised £350,000 in private equity investment, and secured ex-professional footballers as marketing partners.

Then it collapsed. Financially. Completely.

I've also been broke. I've been depressed. I've had periods where I couldn't see a way forward. I've made the decisions that looked good on paper and destroyed things in practice. I've experienced the gap between what you've built on the outside and how hollow it can feel on the inside.

And that's one of the most important things I bring to this work.

Because after that collapse, I spent years — and every resource I had — working out why. Not just why the business failed. But why I made the decisions I made, what was driving the patterns I kept repeating, and what was really going on beneath the surface of my professional life.

What I found transformed everything. And I've spent the years since sharing those discoveries with business owners who are stuck in the same place I was.

I now coach and consult with business owners across the world — from Olympic-level athletes and former professional footballers to multi-millionaires, CEOs and MDs who have challenges they can't seem to crack, no matter who they've hired.

I've also written two five-star rated books on Amazon: How to Solve Any Problem in Life and The 7 Secrets to Change Your Career.

WHAT OTHERS HAVE SAID

WHAT MAKES THIS DIFFERENT

Most business advisors solve the problem you bring them.

I solve the problem behind that problem.

I bring three things to every engagement that nobody else is bringing in combination:

A legal mind.

Twenty years of legal experience, trained to find the flaw in any argument, the risk in any deal, and the clause that changes everything. When you walk me through a situation, I'm seeing what's been missed.

Real entrepreneurship.

I haven't just advised businesses. I've built them. I've sold one. I've raised investment. I've sat where you're sitting, made the decisions you're making, and felt the weight of what's at stake. I know what it actually looks like from inside the building.

Deep psychological and emotional expertise.

This is what most advisors don't bring at all. Human behaviour — how we make decisions, why we repeat patterns, what drives conflict, what creates the stories we tell ourselves about our businesses and our capabilities — is at the root of almost every problem I've ever worked on. I am trained to work at this level in a way that no lawyer, accountant or commercial consultant is.

Put those three things together and you have something that doesn't really exist anywhere else.

The result: problems that have resisted every other intervention tend to shift. Usually faster than people expect.

WHO THIS IS FOR

This works best for you if:

You're a business owner, typically 35+, who has a problem that hasn't responded to conventional advice

You're experiencing conflict — whether in a business partnership, with key members of your team, or an internal conflict you can't quite name

You've noticed a pattern: different problem, different context, same underlying dynamic. And you're ready to understand why

You want to grow — the ambition is there — but something internal keeps pulling in the opposite direction

You've built something real and you're proud of it. But there's a version of yourself and your business that you know exists and you haven't reached yet

This is probably not for you if:

You're not willing to look honestly at your own role in the situation. If you're certain the problem is always external, we won't be able to help each other

You're not at a stage where you can invest meaningfully in your own development and in your business

You want someone to validate that your problems are everyone else's fault

Every engagement starts with a discovery call — a 60-minute conversation where we look at what's going on in your business, where you're stuck, and whether we're the right fit for each other.

If we decide to work together, the structure is tailored to your situation. Some clients work with me intensively over a short period to solve a specific problem. Others engage on an ongoing basis as a trusted advisor sitting outside the formal structures of their business.

What doesn't change is that I go deep into the challenges you're facing. I'll ask the questions nobody else has asked. I'll tell you what I see — clearly, directly, and without the softening that often makes advice useless. And I'll work with you until we find the root, not just manage the symptom.

HOW WE WORK TOGETHER

COMMON QUESTIONS

Is this business coaching or therapy?

Neither, exactly — and both, in some ways. I don't provide therapy, and this isn't a standard coaching programme. What I do is a combination of strategic advisory, commercial thinking, legal analysis, and psychological insight applied to the real problems in your business and your professional life. If you need a therapist, I'll tell you. If you need a lawyer, I'll refer you. What I do is the layer underneath all of that.

I've worked with coaches before and it hasn't helped. Why would this be different?

Because most coaching addresses what you can see. The problem you bring to the session. The goal you've set. What I'm trained to do is get to the level below that — the drivers, the patterns, the beliefs and behaviours that are generating the problem in the first place. That's a different kind of work, and it produces different results.

How quickly can I expect to see results?

It varies significantly by situation. Some clients experience a major shift in our very first conversation. Others need time for the work to compound. What I can tell you is that when we find the root cause of a problem, the problem tends to resolve — and it stays resolved, because we've removed the source rather than managing the symptoms.

What does this cost?

This is a bespoke, high-touch service and I work with a limited number of clients at any one time. Investment levels are discussed on the discovery call once I understand your situation and what's needed. If you're serious about addressing a problem that's costing you — in revenue, in relationships, in opportunity, or in quality of life — we can have an honest conversation about whether the investment makes sense, but I always work with fixed, transparent fees so you know exactly how much working together will cost you before we start.

What if I'm not sure this is right for me?

Book the discovery call. It's a real conversation, not a sales pitch. By the end of it you'll have a clearer picture of what's actually happening in your business, and you'll be able to make an informed decision. There's no pressure and no obligation.
